I think your harsh and dismissive assessment misses the point of the purpose of this software. To expect small developers to be able to anticipate every possible bug as they grow their program can only choke creativity. There won’t be any limitation on VSTis then. In the not too distant future Rapid Composer will itself be a VSTi instrument like Consequence, Catanya, Hypercyclic, etc., to run inside Cubase. For the time being I export my midi into Cubase. It’s part of the KISS philosophy of music production. I’m working on the arrangement, not the timbres. ![]() I run using either my Roland sound modules or GM soundfont banks. That said, I could care less about the VSTi implementation. Have you contacted the developer? I have received prompt responses from him and on a couple of occasions he has sent me an executable with a bug fixed pending the next release. I understand the developer is busy porting it at this time and has stated in the forum that it’s going very … if it states it supports VSTi, it should. Check out the webpage and try the … a Mac version should be out within a few weeks. It is a new small company in start up that is doing the advances in midi that I always hoped an autocomposition would do. I am obviously extremely excited about this program. ![]() Short of Synfire from Cognitone … at about $1200.00 US … there is nothing like this perfect partner for Cubase. But with the possible exception of flexiphrase in Halion 4 and Halion Sonic, does little to aid the ‘composing/ arranging’ side of things. Didn’t like that one? Keep on morphing till it creates one that works as you want … in perfect harmonic and rhythmic step with our original phrases.Ĭubase is a fantastic program and the unquestioned leader in MIDI manipulation. When you set up two musical phrase you like in your sequence … say a way you want an 8 bar section to open in the first bar and how you want it to end in the last bar … ‘phrase morphing’ will automatically fill in a harmonically correct, musically smooth bridge between the two phrases following any chord changes you’ve selected. I think it’s most outstanding feature is ‘phrase morphing.’ ‘Phrase morphing’ is incredible. When you get it to sound like you like, you export your composition as a type 1 smf with all your actual notes, controller and patch info, etc, for loading into your DAW. You also have controller information easily editable in the composition window for each track and little macros that do things like change the playback to legato or stacatto or velocity curves, etc, on a ‘phrase by phrase’ basis. There are about 25 scales with modal variations of most. There is a fantastic collection of chords with their harmonic neighbors available in a drop menu to make chord alterations. At this point they are not notes, but harmonically correct phrases correctly played in the key or chord of your composition as controlled by that section of the composition. Basically you drag and drop the phrases on top of the composition tracks. You can also ‘plastically’ change these phrases once they are in the composition window without changing the phrase from the library. There are special ones for chords, basslines, etc. Then you have a library of musical phrases that you can also edit or add to by importing sections from existing midi files. In a nut shell, when you lay out your composition by chord progressions, you can add as many midi tracks as you want … up to at least the basic 16 (I haven’t tested beyond that). They all have their strengths and charms … including a few being free.īut RapidComposer takes everything to a different level … and one I find much closer to what I always wished for in a midi composition program. Third, … since we’re not all musically educated … I’ve tried a lot of ‘autocomposition’ software programs like Band In A Box, Jammer and Ntonyx, and harmony programs like Harmony Navigator, Harmony Assistant, Harmony Improvisator, ChordSpace and Melody Palette. That’s the main reason I prefer Cubase over the competition and a reason I follow this forum. Second, while I know this is a Cubase forum … and this post will probably get moved to the Lounge pretty quickly, I also know that there are a lot of folks here that are interested in midi composition. And, yes, this is gushing fanboy in the first throes of infatuation. (Edit: I forgot to add that the developer is working on a VSTi plugin version, expected to be implemented shortly.)įirst, I have no financial interest in RapidComposer … unless having purchased the LE version and wanting the development to continue is a financial interest. Here's a short help page on how to send the debug package. please send us a debug package from your PC by holding down SHIFT while right-clicking on the doubleTwist icon in the System Tray and selecting "Send log files…". If the cloned playlist still isn't syncing completely. Then try to sync that cloned playlist to your device. What you can also try is to create a cloned version of a playlist that isn't syncing completely. That was my experience anyway.I'm sorry that you're experiencing problems with syncing.Īre you getting any errors during the sync? Those other programs may be fine on a PC,(I wouldn't bet on DoubleTwist though), but on a Mac, for less than the price of a Starbucks, Isyncr cannot be beat. ![]() From downloading the App until I was listening to my music on my Droid was 10 minutes tops. It just pulls up a list of your playlists off of iTunes, you check the ones you want to sync, press sync, and that's it. The Isyncr interface is sleek and simple. When opened, the App gives simple instructions on mounting your Android device to your computer and opening the Isyncr program. Literally I downloaded the App, opened it in the Droid. Had I known it would be so easy, I would have gladly paid 5X that much 3 days ago just to get back the hours I was fooling with DoubleTwist and Songbird. Out of desperation, and based on others comments in this thread, I paid $2.99 for the paid version of Isyncr from the App Market. I opened up my music player, found my songs, but alas no playlists. I did install the FolderSync add-on chose my playlists, I synced the playlists I wanted, it loaded the music on my Droid. The first problem I encountered on Songbird for the Mac was that the add-ons Searayman said I needed in this post, MSC Device Support and MTP Device Support, are not available for the Mac version. Songbird seemed sleek and smooth initially, much better than DoubleTwist. So I uninstalled DoubleTwist and based on comments in this thread, installed Songbird. Forget that Doubletwist was buggy on the MAC, that it kept getting hung up, that some iTunes playlists didn't show up in DoubleTwist on the Mac, the main problem was that after syncing 6GB of songs were all in the Droid but the play lists are nowhere to be found. ![]() I spent a total of probably 4-6 hours trying to get DoubleTwist and the Songbird to transfer playlists. Maybe DoubleTwist and Songbird work well on the PC, but the Mac versions are, frankly, awful.Īll I want to do is transfer playlists to my Droid. I have got to concur with the previous recommendation on Isyncr. Meantime, people seem to really like MediaMonkey.Īnother Vote For Isyncr, especially if using a Mac I plan to give it a year or so and hope it will work then. It's such a pretty program, and I love the "Artists on Tour" addon. My phone was only able to find about 1/3 of my music, and no metadata, whereas with drag & drop, it could read everything. Plus when you try to set the options to organize the music into nice folders as you transfer it onto the phone, it says it will do it, but doesn't. Folder sync just copies the source file, but without metadata. Even when I choose "Sync all music, videos, and playlists," Songbird appears to think it has synced everything in the library, but in reality, NO files have been transferred to my Droid. There's been all this talk that once you download Songbird 1.4, the MSC Support add-on makes it possible to sync with a remote device. I've also gathered 3 is a pretty good player - sadly, not compatible with Incredible yet.Īfter much, much, MUCH tinkering, requests for help on the Songbird site, and a lot of research on every available workaround, I am uninstalling Songbird. but maybe that's stuff most people don't care about. It doesn't give file info: bit-rate, file size, file type, sampling frequency, bit-depth, etc. Automatically downloads artwork, reads tags properly, suggests music based upon user's library, allows you to choose between internal and external storage, scrobbles to last.fm. Anyone used/like MixZing? Much better than native players. Fails to pick up full codec support on device, however - only mp3 - meaning that Songbird refuses to sync all other (device supported) filetypes.ġ.8a (nightly): Fails to see both storage areas on device. Who knew? Back to Songbird:ġ.43 (current): doesn't recognize onboard storageġ.71a (stable nightly): recognizes storage - both onboard and SD - though it does mix them up. ![]() So far, I'm actually having my best syncing experience with WMP12. Initially I planned to play DotP after mission pack 2."Sonic Mayhem is the professional name used by game music producer and professional sound designer Sascha "Buzzfunk" Dikiciyan and associates. I have the feeling, that I should play after the second mission pack of Quake I rather something completely different or better Quake II, before I play Dimension of the Past. Played once the shareware demo and it was okay. Is it really your favorite in the series? Sounds nice! I'm currently playing the second mission pack of Quake I, but I have actually not such a hype for Quake II. So it was a good decision to go with GOG, which has the base game and the expansions. Then, Quake II appeared on Steam in Germany, but the expansions are till this date not available in Germany. Even when Quake II was unbanned in Germany. I bought Quake II on GOG, because Steam was not offering Quake II in Germany for a long time. Many steam updates or versions never came to GOG. I think GOG versions were almost always treated like second class customers. Personally begging for a Quake 2 Remaster, Quake 2 is my favourite in the series. Well the previous Quake/Doom remasters just upgraded all currently existing versions of themselves so if they do something similar then you didn't buy it for no reason. ![]() Level 16 : Bio-Waste Treatment - Lots of rooms look like The Reckoning: Sewers, Starting room looks like Ground Zero: Tactical Command Level 15 : Research Lab - Quake 2: Research Lab (Heavily altered, couple of set pieces and general concept) ![]() Level 14 : Detention Center - Quake 2: Detention Center, ending similar to Quake 2: Warehouse Level 12 : Processing Center - Ground Zero: Eastern Warehouse (Heavily simplified) + Quake 2: Warehouse (setpiece only), Contains drill exit from Quake 2: Drilling Area Level 11 : Organic Storage - The Reckoning: Lower Hangers Level 7 : Strogg Freighter - The Reckoning: Strogg Freighter Level 4 : Communications Center - Quake 2: Comm Center ![]() Level 2 : Central Complex - Ground Zero: Lower Mines (setpiece only) Level 1 : Strogg Outpost - New Prologue, shared with Playstation release If they added the console exclusive prelude mission set in the Afrika campaign, the Xbox (original) content (shotgun, new enemies) and mixed it with the PS2 version upgrade system, it would be like the ultimate version of RTCW. Though, I really hope we eventually see a RTCW remaster over just about anything else. I found out early on when I first got QII on PS1 that the only true way to enjoy it was to use a PS1 mouse, so having this experience on mouse + keyboard wouldn’t feel too far off from how it controlled that way on PS1. Plus, the PS1 version is a little different too and had a couple new enemies and uses maps from the PC version, the mission packs, and N64 but it’s all condensed quite a bit for a much shorter and far more linear game. Hopefully if this is the case and they are to release a QII remaster it will be much like the latest Quake remaster and allow for cross-play, and maybe even some sort of add-on to play the N64 version maps with soundtrack, which are entirely different maps and music from the PC version. Shame they’re choosing to have it virtually yet again, though. I wouldn’t be surprised if something does get announced in August, even if it turns out to not be this, or if it ends up just being the QII music being remastered and rereleased on vinyl or something, there will definitely be some sort of announcement at QuakeCon this year. |
